New Beginner's 5 week course Starts Tuesday 20th April 6pm Hamstreet Victory Hall £35
I am personally living with MS and cervical dystonia and have found an improvement in my balance, co-ordination, posture, ability to relax, physical and mental strength.
I was first told I had MS in 2000 and since then I’ve had my ups and downs, even lost most of my sight in both eyes intermittently for 18 months not to mention problems walking, dizziness and balance so the usual! Like many people with a medical condition Tai Chi was recommended as being helpful in regaining and retaining my standard of living. It took four different instructors before I found a class that was suitable for me. So I sincerely promote not giving up if the class isn’t for you. Recently I was also given the diagnosis of cervical dystonia and it probably would have been a lot worse if it wasn’t for my Tai Chi & Qigong.
What I hadn’t realised was there are many different styles, some more impactful and less accessible but I discovered Tai Chi For Health programs which have been adapted to become accessible for anyone, both seated and standing. It is still Tai Chi just the impactful and low stances have been removed. I wholeheartedly recommend www.taichiforhealthinstitute.org I continued my journey when I discovered another amazing system of moves created by Master Joe Lok. This Tai Chi Qigong sequences of moves was directly developed to aid improvement in health and has continued to help me and I thoroughly recommend.
I am not suggesting Tai Chi is a cure or has some mystical power but it has helped me. I am now 47 and as my journey continues I work on developing my knowledge and understanding on the traditional Chinese martial art. I started teaching others and I want to make it easy for people to not just learn the exercises that can benefit but to understand how it helps and to bring those techniques into everyday life.
You do not need to only practice the movements to benefit from Tai Chi but you can inject the principles behind the movements into your daily activities, specifically helping physical problems, improve relaxation, learn to save energy and even how to bring Tai Chi into playing with Kids.
How Tai Chi helped me...
Tai Chi has improved my balance, co-ordination, strength, ability to relax, improved my posture, stability, agility, overall wellness & outlook on life.
